The power of networking: our first project with Give5 productions at PACE, they asked us for designer recommendations. We had built a relationship with Brian Mallgrave, the Resident Scenic Designer at Arvada Center, and he came aboard. Brian and Director Kelly VanOsbree hit it off, and have collaborated on multiple shows since.

This show was the beneficiary of another Intern project- we had just finished a huge welding project for Lamont Opera’s Operas Magique. When Brian and Kelly asked us if we could place the entire band on a platform above the stage, Shop Supervisor Ally Lacey took over as TD. Utilizing the skills learned on the opera, she and the interns designed and welded a steel truss system for the platforming. But the show was so large, it could not be assembled until we loaded-in at PACE. With Ally’s drafting and the intern’s attention to detail, the entire show assembled flawlessly in Parker, with only minimal adjustment to the many bolt holes between units.
