We had the pleasure of returning to working with Phamaly with a build of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Summer 2023.

Students were exposed to the challenge of a Union house. The production took place on the Kilstrom stage at the DCPA, which has an IATSE crew. I was the only person from the build team allowed to enter the venue, and the show needed to be documented to be assembled by another team.

The show was an enormous paint challenge because of the limited time frame for load-in, and the central nature of the painted floor, we laid a 36’x36’ masonite deck, cut it into the pentagonal shape of the Kilstrom, painted the entire complex design, and then carefully lifted it for delivery and reassembly by a different crew.
