I had heard (through Facebook!) that a former  Colorado Shakespeare Festival colleague was looking for a venue for a out-of-town tryout. Carolyn worked for with Creative Endeavor Office (CREO) in NYC, and was working on a pair of immersive jukebox musicals that were based on the idea of attending a high school Reunion: one in 1969, and one in 1985. I approached her about contracting with Newman Center for the Summer, and DU’s Theatre department providing crew, builders and some of the performers.

The CREO team showed up with a developmental script, a series of lawyers negotiating music rights, and a dream. Over 10 weeks, they hired Equity actors, began rehearsals, revised the script, lost a whole bunch of music to legal challenges, and revised the script again. Students were working with NYC-based designers and performers. In an intense burst of creativity and work, we presented the Reunion ’69 and Reunion ‘85 for enthusiastic audiences.
